EyeGen

Although Carlton Ricardo Campbell is his birth name, the moniker EyeGen suits this artist, as it captures the essence of his personality and the responsibility he accepts as a voice for this “eye” generation. “It is necessary for this generation to not stray and to be aware, to see everything as it is,” says EyeGen when asked about his stage name's meaning.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, and raised in Portmore, EyeGen was influenced by some of the pioneers and icons of reggae music. Dennis Brown, Garnett Silk, Bob Marley, and the messenger, Luciano, are just a few of the stalwarts of the genre he hails as his inspiration.

Blessed with an angelic voice and prolific writing ability, he began actively pursuing music and started recording shortly after leaving Ascot High School in Greater Portmore. Being surrounded by musical influences his entire life, EyeGen accepted the fact that music was his destiny, and aims to change the narrative that his generation’s sole focus is on vanity, violence, and venomous lyrics.

The Musically Unifying label whose CEO is the Grammy Award-winning music producer EchoSlim, is at the helm of EyeGen’s career.  All Right, and Rockaway, are slated as the first two singles and videos to be released in early 2024.

EyeGen’s melodic vocal prowess soothes the listeners soul, while lyrics of love, spirituality, wisdom, and fortitude, embodies the essence of everything there is.

A new “voice of the generation” is on the horizon, and there is no doubt EyeGen's talents will be celebrated in decades to come as an inspiration to other artists carrying on the legacy of the genre.

Musically Unifying, bridging hearts and minds through the power of music.
