Jallanzo

Omar Allanzo Johnson aka Jallanzo was born on the 24th of May 1981, at Kingston Jubilee Hospital. Jallanzo grew up in a community called Dreamland Drive of Old Braeton District, Portmore in the parish of St. Catherine, Jamaica. He spent at least seven years of his life raised by his grandparents in Glengoffe, St. Catherine where he attended Mount Concord Basic School and went onto The Grateful Hill Primary School. While residing with his grandparents, he often attended church with his grandmother, which is where Jallanzo first discovered his love for music. Often banging on pots and pans, drawing, and writing poems, Jallanzo then discovered his passion for the arts, more specifically, music.  As a very shy child, he would often sing only in the presence of his elder sister, Keisha. After learning how vocally talented he is, she started encouraging him to sing in public which he often refused. Nevertheless, his grandmother, Madeline Farquharson, would always support his music talents by often buying him musical instruments or toys as gifts such as the harmonica, melodica, and a toy guitar which he constantly played until they were all worn out. As the years flew by, he no longer had an interest in attending church nor school which resulted in skipping. Concerned and worried his grandmother became, she then decided to send him back to live with his parents in Portmore. Residing in Portmore, Jallanzo attended what was then called Braeton All Age school currently named Braeton Junior High School. It was then he realised residing in Portmore with his parents, the environment of music was in abundance. At the tender age of 13, Jallanzo created a systematic drumset out of pots and pans.

With this creation he would shock and rock the community of Old Braeton. He was then influenced at the age of 14 by a known elder in the community just passing by to enter the nations infamous Tastee's Talent Contest. Although he ranked in third place, he won first in the hearts of many. From that, he became popular within the community through media exposure and participating in local events such as concerts and other social gatherings. Eventually, Linworth "Natty Fred" Henry, owner of Blackberry Records studio, sought interest in Jallanzo and invited him to play on a professional drum set. With that experience and guidance of elder Natty Fred, Jallanzo then learned to produce, compose, and became a master engineer of music as well as play the guitar which would inevitably be his instrument of healing many throughout the world.

At the rising of his musical career, Jallanzo played the drums in multiple bands such as Natural Roots Band, iJam Band, Inner Roots and many more throughout the island. Artist such as Luciano, Andrew Tosh, Junior Reid, Mikey General, Natty King, Vybz Kartel, Merciless and a host of other have been blessed by Jallanzo's drumming capabilities. With all of these moments of opportunity and stardom, Jallanzo then knew that he would eventually become successful in all aspects of music. Though still timid to sing, he would eventually be forced by friends to sing publicly due to his peers stumbling across and hearing the many demos he made in the privacy of his home. Eventually, he let go of the illusion of being shy and started creating more music while incorporating his vocal talents alongside his musical skills as composer, producer and engineer in various studios and performing live throughout Jamaica. Fast forwarding to one of the most prevailing years in Jallanzo's musical career, the year 2006, where he met a fellow musical genius by the name of Deleon "Jubba" White, drummer and groovy and soothing bass player, Strickland Stone, whom were the brain children of one of the best, if not THE BEST, dub infused duo known as DUBTONIC KRU. Through the introduction of Ijah Man Levy, Jallanzo alongside the Dub Duo, recorded an album titled 'Versatile Life' , followed by his (Jallanzo's) first European tour alongside 'Mighty Diamonds'.

Jallanzo also continued to tour with the likes of Max Romeo, Bush Man, Lutan Fiyah, Jah Mason, Fantan Mojah, Norris Mann, songstress Jah9, Ibah Mar and many more. Jallanzo's experience of being on tour with these beautiful and talented spirits, was only the gateway of him learning and creating live dub rock with a psychedelic trance sound.

In 2007, he collaborated with living legend Max Romeo at Charmax Recording studio, where he is sole producer and master engineer. He produced many singles and albums alongside his very own smash hit 'Reggae Rockin'. Furthermore Dubtonic Kru invited him and solo artist Kamau to tour in Europe as Dubtonic Kru featuring Jallanzo and Kamau. Because of the great chemistry and vibration they all shared it was only inevitable for the band DUBTONIC KRU to be born with the blessings of Jallanzo, Kamau, and keyboardist Luke Dixon to become one with the duo.

Jallanzo continues his journey with Dubtonic Kru: touring, performing live, and recording. He also produces, composes, mix and writes songs for Max Romeo, Jimmy Riley, Lukey D, Singer J, and various artist. His proteges, Xana and Azizi Romeo , children of living legend Max Romeo have also been included on the journey of Jallanzo's career and have learned from his teachings. Jallanzo has also been influenced greatly by Earl "Chinna" Smith, his mentor and has been creating and giving birth to new and innovating styles of music ever since.

Now focused on the more spiritual and meditative side of the music world, Jallanzo is now writing and recording music with the intent to holistically heal others worldwide under his independent label.

Jallanzo's message is as follows: "Peace, LOVE, joyfullness, self-awareness, gratitude and consciousness. In order to SEE a change, BE the change! What we see in others can be a reflection of ourselves as WE ARE ONE."
